Be A Tidy Angler – make sure you

take your litter home

Chester-le-Street & District Angling Club with their bags of collected litter

Angling clubs up and down the country are doing great work in cleaning

up our riverbanks and lakesides of litter – and keeping nature safe.

Whether it’s from people dropping rubbish in the water, storm discharges from

sewage treatment works or from flooding off streets and fields where litter has not

been properly disposed of, it is all a potential hazard for the environment and wildlife.

Individual anglers must do their bit, too, by taking home any unwanted bits of tackle and

disposing carefully. It only takes a couple of minutes at the end of a day’s fishing to tidy up

before you head home.

The Angling Trust knows that many thousands of anglers are volunteering hours of their

spare time to take part in litter clean-ups. So let us know when and where you are holding
your litter pick, how many anglers take part and send us a picture of the team with the mounds
of rubbish collected. We’ll promote your club and your great work on our Facebook pages.
